Dear Christ Covenant Family,

Psalm 126:3 says, “The LORD has done great things for us; we are glad” – and Christ Covenant Church would have to say the same. Since the merger of Covenant Presbyterian Church with Christ Church of the Carolinas and the subsequent move to our current location, the Lord has done great things for us. He has brought us into a denomination that is faithful to the Scriptures, true to the reformed faith, and obedient to the great commission. He has seen us through pastoral transitions. He has grown us numerically. He has expanded our staff. He has retired our debt burden. He has provided for our practical needs. He has kept us a light of gospel hope in the Bradley and Forest Acres communities.

Our desire is to continue to be a faithful gospel witness in this community for many years to come. For that to be a reality, though, will require sacrifice on our part – in much the same way our spiritual forebears sacrificed to give us our current sanctuary building back in 1959. The name of the capital campaign we will launch this fall captures well our desire for our facilities and for our congregation: Refresh, Renew, Reconnect. Our facilities need those things quite literally. Our hope and prayer is that our collective effort to that end will also be a means of refreshing, renewing, and reconnecting us spiritually, both as a congregation and in terms of our relationship to our surrounding community.

Every member household will be asked to prayerfully consider making a sacrificial financial commitment, over and above normal giving, to be given over the next three years. Through Refresh, Renew, Reconnect, we hope to raise funds sufficient to pay for the entirety of our sanctuary building renovation. Please make plans to be here on October 26, 2025. During our time together, you will learn more about our project and campaign title and the importance of church-wide prayer as we move forward. No financial commitments will be requested or received on that day.

Until then, please join us in praying that the Lord will bless our humble efforts to advance His kingdom of grace here in the Bradley and Forest Acres communities, and give us success as we continue to make disciples of Jesus through worship, life, and ministry together in Christ!

Warmly in His hand,

Campaign Purpose

The purpose of Refresh-Renew-Reconnect is to renovate our sanctuary building in order to update and improve its function and aesthetics.

Consultation with our architect, contractor, and multiple engineers confirmed that the electrical and HVAC systems are dated and deteriorating (as further indicated by the recent failure of the HVAC unit that services the west wing of the building). Failure to address these issues would soon lead to costly repairs and replacements. Refresh-Renew-Reconnect will allow us to address these issues before they become emergencies. Further functional improvements include expanded, ADA-compliant restrooms on both sides of the sanctuary, an expanded entryway in the east wing, a kitchenette for communion preparation, a conference room, and a bride’s room.

Aesthetically, our desire is to beautify the building so as to make it more attractive and less distracting. To that end, the renovations include new carpet and flooring, refinished and reupholstered pews, replacing the windows, replacing the wood paneling with painted sheet rock, and replacing the sanctuary furniture (pulpit, communion table, baptismal font, chairs) so as to make them consistent in appearance. Additionally, painting the brick white (inside and out) will cover inconsistencies in the brick and signal to passersby a fresh, new chapter in Christ Covenant Church’s ministry. The wooden beams and ceiling, and the stained glass in the rear of the sanctuary will remain and continue adding to the building’s beauty. Finally, updated signage and landscaping will round out the refreshing and renewal of our building with a view toward reconnecting with our neighbors.

Ephesians 4:15-16

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

How will this building project help us reach our community for Christ?

The exterior beautification will signal to passersby a fresh, new chapter in our ministry, ideally attracting them to the church and, at a minimum, removing any deterrents they might feel to entering a dated, deteriorating facility. The interior improvements will remove distraction and direct attention to our God and the beauty and excellence that should characterize the space in which He is worshiped.

How will we pay for this?

Our hope and prayer is that through Refresh, Renew, Reconnect the Lord will provide sufficient funds to cover the cost of the renovation project.

What is the current financial condition of the church?

Christ Covenant Church is debt-free and in as healthy a financial position as can be.

How long is the commitment to this campaign?

Every member household will be asked to prayerfully consider making a sacrificial financial commitment, over and above normal giving, to be given over the next three years.

Why should I sign a pledge to the Refresh, Renew, Reconnect campaign?

All members of the church have vowed to support the church in its worship and work to the best of their ability. This campaign is a vital part of the church’s work in this season of its life. People commonly make financial commitments every day in the form of signed agreements. Your pledge is simply a way of formalizing your “faith promise” to support the campaign to the best of your ability. It will also enable the church to know what to expect, how to plan, and to make informed financial decisions.

What does commitment mean?

Commitment means that, barring extraordinary, unforeseen circumstances, you will contribute the amount you pledge over the next three years.

What are the different ways I can give?

Even a small gift, given regularly, can add up to a substantial donation over time. Get creative: defer major purchases, hold a garage sale, get the children involved with extra chores around the house, reduce spending, give your tax refund. It’s a great way to involve your whole family in the joy of giving something that matters and has a lasting impact. Our financial team is also available to discuss gifts of stocks, bonds, and other assets. All gifts are tax deductible.

How can I help?

First and foremost, please pray for the success of Refresh, Renew, Reconnect and the project it seeks to fund. Second, participate in the events and meetings so as to be as informed as possible about the campaign and the goals it will help us realize. Third, pray about the part you might play in the campaign, and prayerfully consider what your own sacrificial commitment might be.

Campaign Goals

Building and planning for the future takes wisdom and faith.

The leadership of Christ Covenant Church has been prayerfully considering how to wisely address the needs of our facilities. The first goal is set at an attainable $700,000. The second goal is a more ambitious $1,000,000. Our third goal of $1,300,000 is the sort of goal that’s unattainable unless the Lord is in it. We pray that He will generously supply this need as we attempt great things for Him and expect great things from Him.

GOD MOVE IN ME…

Commit to the Refresh, Renew, Reconnect Campaign.

Join us in this Kingdom work! The Bible tells us that generosity is not about equal gifts, but equal sacrifice; giving faithfully what the Lord puts in your heart. Ask God to show you what He would have you contribute to expanding His Kingdom through the Refresh, Renew, Reconnect campaign.
